The Borough of Barnet lies in North London and is home to several charities that work for the welfare of its people. The Young Barnet Foundation has a large distribution network which caters to 17 food banks that deliver essential food items to the vulnerable.

On the 9th of April, the top brass of the World Memon Organisation, Europe Chapter arrived at the East Finchley Food Bank of St. Mary’s Church to deliver 400 food packs to the Barnet Foundation under the WMO Food Program. The Program is a Covid-19 Response initiative by the Europe Chapter.

The WMO team was led by Mr. Mahmood Shaikhani (Deputy President – WMO), Mr. Bashir Sattar (Secretary General – WMO), Mr. Imran Panaawala (Vice President – WMO Europe Chapter), Mr. Wasim Adil (Regional Secretary General – WMO Europe Chapter), Mr. Shehzad Iqbal (Regional Treasurer) and Mr. Farhan Farooq.

The gesture was acknowledged by Member of Parliament (MP), Mike Freer, parish priest of the Church – Father Peter Scott, Anna Maughan, members of the Young Barnet Foundation – Janet Mathewson and Oliver.

The WMO Food Program is yet another global initiative that firmly underlines the evolution of WMO from an organization that was founded to uplift the Memon Community to an institution that Serves all Mankind.

Mr. Mahmood Shaikhani apprised the honourable MP of the sentiment as both men personally transported food packs into the waiting vans.

Mr. Mike Freer expressed his gratitude to Mahmood Shaikhani who assured the distinguished MP of continued, steadfast support from the organization.

“The World Memon Organisation transcends countries, boundaries, religion, community, caste, colour, race and creed. We Serve Humanity!” asserted Mr. Shaikhani.

“This is the time for everyone to come together to heal the nation as it continues to reel under the Corona pandemic. At a time, when the World needs healing, our compassion must lead the way'” concluded an emphatic Mahmood Shaikhani.
