On the evening of 8th March 2025, the WMO Europe Chapter, in partnership with Islamic Relief UK, hosted a remarkable Iftar & Taraweeh event at the prestigious Hilton Paddington, London. The event was a resounding success, drawing a full house of attendees and raising an impressive GBP 300,000 for the Maternal Health Project, which provides critical support to pregnant mothers in Gaza.

The evening was a beautiful blend of spirituality, community, and philanthropy, as guests gathered to break their fast together and engage in the special Taraweeh prayers, conducted by Shaykh Saad, renowned for his extraordinary ability to emulate the Haramain imams’ recitations.

The event not only served as a platform for collective worship but also highlighted the urgent need to address maternal health challenges in conflict-affected Gaza.

The event was graced by the presence of prominent WMO Members and Office Bearers, including: Mr. Mahmood Shaikhani, Deputy President of WMO; Mr. Bashir Sattar, Secretary General of WMO; Mr. Shahzad Iqbal, Regional President of WMO Europe Chapter; Mr. Farhan Farooq, Regional Secretary of WMO Europe Chapter; Mr. Nisar Bawany, Regional Treasurer of WMO Europe Chapter. Their presence underscored the commitment of WMO to humanitarian causes and its dedication to supporting vulnerable communities worldwide.

The overwhelming turnout and the substantial funds raised are a testament to the generosity of the community and the collective desire to make a difference. The proceeds will directly contribute to improving maternal healthcare services in Gaza, ensuring safer pregnancies and deliveries for mothers in need.

The success of the event was a reflection of the hard work and collaboration between WMO Europe Chapter and Islamic Relief UK, as well as the unwavering support of the attendees. It was a night that truly embodied the spirit of Ramadan – compassion, unity, and giving.
