The WMO AGMs have always been a celebration of brotherhood, fostering unity and building relationships. Although we dearly missed physically interacting with our brothers and sisters, the virtual 19th WMO AGAM was a triumph.

The inaugural AGM of Mr. Salman Iqbal’s Presidency cemented his position as orator in chief of WMO. His eloquent opening address, his dialect and command over the Memoni language, peppered with Urdu and the Queens English won hearts and minds all around. Add to that a calm demeanor and graceful style of delivery. Even Mr. Solly Noor, the former President and an orator par excellence endorsed his successor with a big round of applause.

The large body of global humanitarian work, the President’s steadfast support towards the Regional Chapters, the respect accorded to his elders, constant encouragement for the ladies wing, throwing his weight behind the youngsters, his vision for the future and the many revolutionary ideas that will transform the organization, underline Salman Iqbal’s formidable leadership.

The youth are brimming with enthusiasm, the ladies have found their rightful place in the organization, funds are pouring in, new members are lining up, the calendar is chockablock with projects and events, there is clockwork efficiency with all 9 Regional Chapters having outperformed each other in the past year.

Call it change of guard, youthful exuberance, exceptional teamwork, inspirational leadership or just Salman Iqbal.

A new era has begun in WMO. And the 19th WMO AGAM will remain a testament to it.
