The WMO Africa Chapter are on the forefront of the WMO Food Bank project and are standing together, shoulder to shoulder, to make a difference in their corner of the World.

The Langars have lit up the African shores and a sea of Deghs have been spotted in multiple cities of the Rainbow nation.

Community kitchens are preparing and serving food on a daily basis in Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria. Vans carrying large cauldrons of food are zipping through the streets, racing to their next destination where large swaths of people gather in anticipation of their next meal. Informal settlements, impoverished suburbs, madressahs, masjids, orphanages, old age homes – all are being catered to.

Food hampers which can comfortably feed an entire family for a fortnight, are being distributed to all.

The most pleasing sight is people of all colour, community, religion and race are bring served.

As the WMO Food Bank project gains momentum with each passing day in South Africa, the Chapter strives to fulfill the most basic of human needs – hunger.
