Congratulations to Mr. Osman Kassim for gracing the cover of the prestigious LMD magazine, the top business publication of Sri Lanka

Osman Kassim is an entrepreneur, visionary and educationalist. He is the Chairman of Aberdeen Holdings and Amana Takaful Life Insurance. He also serves on the boards of Vidullanka, Expack Corrugated Cartons and Cresent Rating among several others.

Osman was the Founder Chairman of Expolanka Holdings PLC, when operations commenced in 1978. Under his leadership, the Expolanka Group has diversified to encompass many sectors of enterprise from manufacturing, logistics, investments to transportation and leisure. The conglomerate’s present operations span across 20 counties and 50 cities.

In 1999, Osman was instrumental in establishing the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka, as one of the first private higher education institutions in the country in collaboration with (APIIT) Malaysia and Staffordshire University.
Alongside his success in business and education, Osman is recognised for his pioneering efforts in introducing Islamic Finance and Islamic insurance Takaful in Sri Lanka which led to the establishment of the first Islamic Investment Company in 1997, the first Islamic Insurance Company in 1998, and the first Shariah compliant Bank in 2011.

Osman is the elder brother and serves as an inspiration to Mr. Farook Kassim, esteemed Trustee and stalwart of the World Memon Organisation.
