Annual General Meeting of WMO North India Chapter

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the World Memon Organization (WMO) North India Chapter was successfully held on September 8, 2024, at the WMO office in Mumbai. A significant turnout of over 150 prominent members, including Board Members, Trustees, Patrons, Life Members, Apex Members, Special Guests, Invitees, and staff, attended the event.

The meeting commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Shabbir Patca, Regional Treasurer, followed by a Sadaqah collection and the playing of the national anthem.

Mr. Gani Memon, WMO Patron, and Mr. Salim Bandhukia, Manager of WMO North India Chapter, jointly compered the meeting. Mr. Gani provided a comprehensive overview of the chapter’s recent activities.

Mr. Haseen Aghadi, Regional President of WMO North India Chapter, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and shared his vision for the organization’s future. He emphasized the importance of active member participation and encouraged generous donations to support the chapter’s social initiatives.

The AGM included a financial report presented by Mr. Sharif Memon, Regional Secretary, followed by a Q&A session. Key decisions made during the meeting included the appointment of the auditor, approval of the minutes of the last AGM, and the adoption of the Director’s report, proposed by Mr. Farukh Chandiwala and seconded by Mr. Iqbal Memon.

Mr. Hamid Nathani highlighted the work of the NEST Social Welfare Foundation, a WMO-supported organization dedicated to education, and appealed for donations.

Mrs. Razia Chasmawala, WMO Patron and Deputy Chairperson of the Global Ladies Wing, presented the performance report of the WMO Global Ladies Wing, India Chapter, which was well-received by the members.

Mr. Yameen Thara, GYW Regional Vice Chair – North India Chapter, encouraged members to nominate their youth for social causes and invited them to the upcoming WMO Conclave 2.0 in Nanded in January 2025.

Mr. Ehsan Gadawala, Trustee of WMO NIC, praised the efforts of the WMO team.

In recognition of their contributions, Mr. Junaid Lathiwala, representative of Saami Trade Star, was honored as a Platinum Sponsor, Mrs. Razia Chasmawala as a Gold Sponsor, and Mr. Sharif Memon as a Silver Sponsor.

The meeting concluded with the launch of the Memon Olympics logo, a vote of thanks by Mr. Sohail Sawani, RMC member, and a luncheon.
