WMO Will Donate USD 1 Million Towards the Flood Victims of Pakistan

I can’t say I know Salman Iqbal well but since he has taken over the reins of the WMO Presidency in 2021, he has displayed remarkable leadership qualities.

He is generous to a fault, his heart is in the right place and it is filled with enough empathy and compassion to heal the World. All much sought-after traits that make him the ideal man to helm a global charitable organization, especially during difficult and uncertain times.

So when Pakistan was swept away by the floods of the century and is smack-bang in the middle of a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions, I am glad Salman Iqbal is in the driver’s seat.

He has made a fervent appeal to the global Memon community, his ARY networks have hosted telethons and he has mobilized his friends from the film & sporting fraternity to put the spotlight firmly on the catastrophe.

Salman Iqbal has led from the front by donating 180 million rupees to the flood victims thus far. He has already received pledges close to 500 million rupees and is closing in on a Billion.

So what do you call a person who stands on the frontlines when his country is in crisis, who rallies enough support for a cause to collect a Billion rupees for the rehabilitation of his people.

Patriot is the word that comes to mind.

Yes Salman Iqbal is a proud patriot, he does bleed green and as he often tells us, his fellow Memons – ask not what the community can do for you; ask what you can do for the community.

So I can assure you, when it comes to his dear country, the ideology always remains – ask not what Pakistan can do for you; ask what you can do for Pakistan !
