This past Women’s Day, the Winnie Mabaso Foundation in Ennerdale opened its doors for a truly special outreach — bringing healthcare directly to the women who need it most.
The programme was in collaboration with Dr Taheera Hassim (Gynaecologist – member of WMO)
Pap smears, HIV testing, and sexual health screening was offered in a safe, supportive space where women could put themselves first.
One of the most moving moments of the day came through the generosity of the WMO, who donated 2,640 sanitary pads to women in the community. For many of these women, this wasn’t just a gift — it was relief. Some shared heartbreaking stories of using socks and newspaper during their periods simply because proper sanitary products were out of reach. 💔
A huge jazaakallah to KitKat Cash and Carry for providing the truck that made the distribution possible. Your support matters more than words can say.
Taheera Hassim said: “Being on the ground, hearing these stories, and witnessing both the pain and the incredible resilience of these women reminds me exactly why I do this work. Not just as a doctor, but as an advocate for dignity, access, and women’s health equity”.
The gratitude was overwhelming. And so was the reminder that showing up — truly showing up — changes lives. 🙏🏾
