Following the momentous groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the future Golden Age Village, the proceedings of the WMO Africa Chapter’s Annual General Meeting continued in an atmosphere filled with reflection, gratitude, excitement and renewed commitment.
The programme opened with an inspiring address by Mr Ahmed Gani, whose words resonated deeply with those present. His passionate opening speech not only reflected on the work and vision of WMO, but also left guests eager to learn more about the organisation, its objectives and the meaningful projects it continues to champion.
The 2025 Activities Report, presented by Mr Aslam Kalla, provided an insightful look at the many initiatives and achievements of the Africa Chapter over the past year. It was a reminder of the dedication, teamwork and commitment that continues to drive WMO forward.
The Financial Report was presented by Mr Naeem Hassim, marking a particularly significant moment as it was his final report in his capacity as outgoing Treasurer. His presentation offered a clear, detailed and enlightening overview of the Chapter’s financial journey and the tremendous strides made over the past years. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr Naeem for his invaluable contribution, commitment and service over the past six years.
The focus then returned to the Golden Age Village, with Mr Haroon Kalla leaving the audience with one final thought-provoking message on why this project deserves our support and investment. His message reinforced that the Golden Age Village is far more than a development—it is a vision rooted in dignity, compassion, community and care for our seniors.
Mr Haroon Kalla then presented Acknowledgements of Appreciation to some of the individuals who have been fervent supporters of the project from its earliest stages and who continue to contribute towards ensuring that this vision is driven with sincerity, purpose and foresight. Their commitment serves as a powerful reminder that meaningful projects become reality when people believe, support and persevere.

The evening ended on an especially beautiful and memorable note as everyone came together to celebrate Dr Haroon Tayob’s 80th birthday. It was a fitting conclusion to a day centred around legacy, service and the generations that came before us and those who will follow.
Alhamdulillah, the WMO Africa Chapter AGM was not merely a meeting. It was a celebration of a journey, an acknowledgement of those who have served, a welcome to new leaders and, most importantly, a reaffirmation of a shared vision for the future.
