Delegation from the WMO Far East Chapter visit the significant legacy project: WMO Aashiyana

Day 2 – Sunday, February 11, 2024: Following an eventful Saturday, the delegation from the WMO Far East Chapter embarked on a domestic flight, covering a distance of 500 miles, to visit the significant legacy project of WMO Aashiyana in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This colony comprises of 86 tenements.

Leading the 500-mile journey were Mr. Ehsan Gadawala, Trustee of the WMO North India Chapter, and Mr. Shabbir Patca, Regional Treasurer of the WMO North India Chapter. They were accompanied by the delegation from the WMO Far East Chapter. Additionally, Mr. Sharif Memon, Regional Secretary General of the WMO North India Chapter, and Mr. Abdul Kadir Memon, Regional Managing Committee Member of the WMO North India Chapter, joined them.

Upon arrival at Jamnagar Airport, the delegation was warmly welcomed by local representatives of the WMO North India Chapter and the Jamat community. Jamnagar is home to over 200,000 Memons, with more than 60% of them living below the poverty line.

The delegation then visited the under-construction site of WMO Aashiyana in Jamnagar. They observed the progress being made on this housing project.

A meeting was organized with the local Jamats, during which the WMO North India Chapter successfully gained a commitment of 10 new Life Members. The meeting concluded with a lunch.

The team then proceeded to Dhoraji.
