An Evening of Vision, Generosity and Golden Years

04 September 2026 | WMO Africa Chapter Networking Dinner

The WMO Africa Chapter hosted a memorable networking dinner that was filled with warmth, fellowship and, most importantly, a shared sense of excitement about a project that promises to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

The evening provided guests with an opportunity to learn more about the future Golden Age Village, with Mr Haroon Kalla and Mr Ahmed Gani passionately sharing insights into the vision, purpose and future plans for this much-anticipated development.

What makes this project particularly special is that it is not simply about providing accommodation for seniors. It is about creating a home, a community and a renewed sense of belonging.

The name “Golden Age Village” was beautifully brainstormed and suggested by our International President, Mr Salmaan Iqbal. His vision was simple yet profound: to move away from the often-negative connotations associated with terms such as “old age” and “retirement village” and instead celebrate this chapter of life for what it truly can be — the golden years.

The Golden Age Village is envisioned as a place where our seniors can continue to feel valued, connected and relevant; a place where they can contribute to the community, build friendships, pursue interests and enjoy life — while being surrounded by people who care.

It is about reminding our elders that their journey does not end with retirement. Rather, it opens the door to a different chapter — one filled with companionship, purpose, dignity and, importantly, FUN!

There was a palpable buzz throughout the evening as guests listened, engaged and imagined what the Golden Age Village could become.

The generosity demonstrated on the night was truly heartwarming. Contributions and expressions of support reflected more than financial generosity — they represented a collective belief in the importance of honouring, caring for and investing in our seniors.

This is more than a building project. It is a legacy project.

It is about creating a space where the wisdom, experience and contributions of our elders remain an integral part of our community.

The WMO Africa Chapter extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended, supported, contributed and shared in the vision of the Golden Age Village.

Because our seniors deserve nothing less.

Golden years. Golden memories. A golden legacy.
