11th AGM of the WMO North India Chapter

The 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the WMO North India Chapter took place on Sunday, 28th September 2025, at the Banquet Hall of Regal Palace Hotel, Mumbai. The meeting commenced at 11:00 a.m. and was followed by a fellowship lunch. Over 250 distinguished members attended, including trustees, patrons, life members, esteemed guests, invitees, youth wing representatives, Jamat delegates, and staff.

The program was hosted by Ms. Shaista Memon and Mr. Salim Bandhukia. It began with the National Anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran and a sadqa collection, continuing WMO’s tradition of seeking blessings for its charitable initiatives.

Dr. Haseen Aghadi, Regional President of WMO North Inida Chapter, welcomed the gathering, highlighting that WMO North India Chapter AGM 2025 would serve as a platform for meaningful discussion, engagement, and the celebration of community unity. Mr. Sharif Memon, Secretary General, in coordination with Mr. Salim Bandhukia, Office Secretary, presented the minutes of WMO North India Chapter AGM 2024, which were unanimously approved. The appointment of existing auditors for FY 2025–26, along with Mr. Motorwala as an additional director, was also unanimously approved. The audited report received full endorsement from the members.

Emphasizing youth empowerment, Dr. Aghadi invited Mr. Thara, GYW Regional Vice Chair – North India Chapter, to present the youth activity report, which was warmly received. Mrs. Razia Chasmawala, Global Ladies Deputy Chair, shared annual activities conducted across India, acknowledging the dedication and support of Mrs. Maseela Naviwala, Mrs. Naziya Pakizawala, Mrs. Tasleem Galeria, and other committed lady life members.

The Regional President’s Activity Report, covering the period from 1st April to 25th September 2025, detailed WMO North India Chapter’s welfare expenditures of approximately ₹13 crores, supporting initiatives including housing colonies, hospitals, education projects, mass marriages, Project Farishtey, flood relief, ration distribution, women empowerment centres, langar, and school book distribution. Dr. Aghadi also announced ten new projects recently sanctioned and slated for completion soon. It was further announced that the WMO Memon Hospital will be inaugurated in December 2025, and WMO will hand over keys to 86 underprivileged families, beneficiaries of the WMO Aashiyana Jamnagar project, on 6th December 2025. Members were encouraged to support WMO through five new patron memberships and over forty life memberships, which received a positive response. Updates on upcoming initiatives included the WMO Knowledge City in Malegaon, a new school in Sawantwadi, and many more schools to be added.

Mr. Raees Shaikh, MLA, and Mr. Amin Patel, MLA, appreciated WMO’s work, extended their best wishes, and committed to working together for the betterment of society. Mr. Mudassar Patel, City Chairman for Mumbai Western Region, also applauded WMO’s efforts and pledged to do more for society.

AGM 2025 then recognized esteemed guests for their contributions to social welfare and education. Mr. Abdul Kadar Fazlani, Chairman of Fazlani Foods and philanthropist; Dr. Nasir Fulara, former President of North India Chapter; Mr. Faisal Vahidna, Chairman of Vahidna Group of Companies; Sir Haroon Karim (OBE), Founder Trustee of WMO and recipient of The Order of the British Empire (OBE) for philanthropic and humanitarian work; and Mr. Almas Baba Sait, Co-Founder of Zenith Foundation, were honored. The awardees expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that such recognition reflects the collective spirit of community service. They reaffirmed their commitment to initiatives that uplift society, empower the underprivileged, and create meaningful impact in education, health, and humanitarian work, while encouraging others to join WMO’s mission of service and compassion.

Mr. Sharif Memon reiterated WMO’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient management, thanking members for their continued support. The AGM concluded with Dr. Haseen Aghadi extending sincere appreciation to all members, volunteers, and attendees for their dedication. The event successfully reinforced WMO’s vision of service, education, women empowerment, and community development, inspiring the next generation of leaders to carry forward the legacy of compassion and social responsibility.

Last but not least, the Dhoraji Youth Wing felicitated Dr. Haseen Aghadi and Mr. Sharif Memon with the prestigious title Rehbar-e-Qoum in recognition of their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to community welfare.
